Protection Relay Will Not Click

A receiver that stays in protection is preventing the speakers from being connected until it sees a safe condition.

Safety: This is general educational information, not a substitute for the exact service documentation or qualified repair. Unplug equipment before inspection.

Remove outside causes first

Turn the unit off, disconnect all speaker wires, then turn it back on with the volume low. Many units use a brief delay before the relay engages, so wait at least ten seconds.

If the relay engages only after the speakers are removed, inspect the speaker wire for shorts and confirm the speakers meet the impedance requirement in the manual.

Why it needs careful diagnosis

Protection can be triggered by DC at an amplifier output, a power-supply fault, failed output devices, or a protection-circuit issue. Proper diagnosis may require live measurements on dangerous circuits, so it belongs with a qualified technician when external checks do not resolve it.
